Dion Otten and Jeffrey Buis to join MTM Kawasaki SSP300 Team

With established WSS300 riders Scott Deroue and Robert Schotman already signed and under contract to ride in the 2019 World Supersport 300 Championship, the MTM Kawasaki team have turned their attentions to two further riders eager to take the next step in their motorsport career.

16 year old Jeffrey Buis from Steenwijkerwold ( Netherlands) has already earned himself a reputation as a rider to watch having won the British Moto3 race at Assen in 2017. Starting his racing career in 2006 in the grass speedway  class, Buis is eager to capitalise on his race winning form as part of the MTM Kawasaki set up in 2019.

“This is a team that is going places and everyone I speak to says how lucky I am to be riding as part of MTM Kawasaki for the coming season. I am super keen to start testing on the Ninja 400 and get to know my new racing machine intimately.”

The fourth rider in the pit box for the new season will be Dion Otten who came to the attention of the team as a result of his impressive rides in Germany’s hotly contested International Deutsche Meisterschaft für Motorräder, or IDM as it is commonly known.
Born in Assen (Netherlands), the talented 15 year old hopes the step up to the world stage will be seamless.

“Riding in the IDM was a great experience but I always had one eye on the WorldSBK paddock. Now I have a chance to be there and on a competitive bike thanks to MTM Kawasaki. Of course I will do my best to repay their faith in me with hard work and good results”.
MTM Kawasaki Team Principle Ludo Van der Veken declared himself satisfied with the team profile for 2019 mixing firmly established riders with those new to WSS300 and the Ninja 400.

“We always saw this project as one of optimism and opportunity. Of course we are optimistic that Scott and Robert will continue on their upward curve and fight for race wins. At the same time we want to encourage young riders and give them an opportunity to realise their true potential. For us this mix of riders in the MTM Kawasaki team will create the sort of energy that breeds success.”
